Of course the best way to engaged with the community is to get out and about to meet people and take to the work we are doing to other places. Here are just a few examples of the things that we are currently doing in our community. If you are interested in discussing a program that we don’t currently have, please contact us at info@steelriver.org.

Grayce’s Hour

In honor of Grayce Cotter, the Waltz and Cotter family has generously donated at grant for Steel River to go out and perform at the Sanatoga Center. Multiple times a year, we create short-form programming to take to the residents at Sanatoga. It is often a few scenes and songs from the current production that we have going on at Steel River. We have also done holiday focused programming for things like Mother’s Day, Christmas or Valentine’s Day.

Olivet Boys and Girls Club

Through a generous donation from Les Rinehart, we have started an afterschool program at Olivet Boys and Girls Club. Teachers from Steel River Playhouse will go over and teach some improvisational and performing fundamentals that will culminate in a performance for their friends and family. It is our intent to have performances at both Olivet on Beech Street and to have one at Steel River Playhouse as well. Keep your eyes opened for news about these great kids.

Pottstown School District

Steel River Playhouse and the Pottstown School District have been working together to provide performing arts education to the students in the Pottstown School District right in their home schools for quite a few years. In addition to school year and summer session classes, Steel River often offers free tickets to Pottstown School District students.
