Steel River Playhouse is excited to announce our 2017-2018 Season! Love. Kindness. Acceptance. Compassion – these are values that we seek to instill in our children, and what we hope to find in each other. It is these values that are central to the 2017-2018 season as Steel River Playhouse.
Kicking off in October 2017 with The Nerd, a side-splitting uproarious comedy by Larry Shue, followed by our holiday show, A Christmas Carol, a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story written by Broadway heavy hitters Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens. Also in December 2017, a bonus holiday gift, The Santaland Diaries, a winking take on how the holiday season brings out the best – and the worst – in all of us.
In 2018, our February production, Boy, an exciting new play by Anna Ziegler about finding love in the midst of confusion about sexual identify. March roars in with To Kill A Mockingbird, based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Harper Lee, which sees racial injustice envelop a small town commjunity in the deep South. In April, our Theater for Young Audiences production, The Emperor’s New Clothes, brings to life one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved tales and a musical for all ages. Also in April, the Pulitzer Prize winning play by David Augurn, Proof, a poignant drama about love and reconciliation which unfolds on the back porch of a house settled in a surbuban university town. Our final production of our 2017-2018 season, She Loves Me, a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance.
