Auditions for “Emperor’s New Clothes”

The Company Theatre in Collaboration with Steel River Playhouse Presents
“Emperor’s New Clothes”
Directed by Beth McDonnell

We are seeking musicians as well a performers. This production will pay a stipend.

Thursday, January 11th at 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Sunday, January 14th at 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

32 Bars of Music, please bring sheet music for the accompanist
Combined should not be more then 5 minutes in length

Callbacks by invitation only

Rehearsals will be late January, February and March, with shows April 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 2 pm. Also a few daytime weekday performances for elementary schools in the local area that will be traveling to the theatre.

This Theatre for Young Audiences Production is a fanciful musical with 5 roles ranging in ages 15 – 40.

Character Breakdown:

The palace’s scrub boy who is outgoing and impulsive. He says the first thing that comes into his head.

Makes the “Magic” clothes for Marcus. He is a conniving, imaginative showman extremely skilled at his art of trickery.

The Royal Clothesmaker who is motherly, level-headed, bossy and nervous.
Gender: Female
Age: 30 to 40

The Royal Advisor who is fatherly, and a little henpecked. He tries to be authoritative and responsible, but generally fails.
Gender: Male
Age: 30 to 40

The Emperor and our story’s protagonist. He has a powerful imagination and is very intelligent, however he lacks self-confidence.
